I was born in Hamburg, but I grew up in the Munich area.  I’ve lived in Hamburg, Munich, Toronto, Shanghai - and while I’ve travelled a lot internationally, I’ve always felt deeply rooted to the Ammersee area where I live today. Photography has been my passion since I was young, in fact, it has accompanied me along the way - sometimes more, sometimes less - but especially now. I followed the technology and moved from film to digital, to mobile to full frame and back to film – and today it’s a potpourri of all of the above. My biggest passion is simply observing people - people around me, people living their day-to-day lives. 

For me, taking a photograph is my way of communicating - the camera is to me as a brush is to the painter. My approach to photography is what I would describe as contemplated - developing the picture in my head before I shoot. For me, less is more – this approach allows me to focus on what’s important and often leads me to black & white and analogue techniques. Working in this manner keeps photography exciting - not only for me, but also for the observed, and in the best case, it advances the motif.
